H
oward Evans has been teaching massage and bodywork through The School of Therapeutic Bodywork since 1994. He has also designed and taught courses for Morley College and the University of Westminster in London, Centro Maxime d’Harroche in Barcelona and AFEDECO in Palma de Mallorca.
Howard has been in continuous practice since 1992. The techniques he teaches are the ones that work best with the least risk to the practitioner and the patient. This is of great importance in an industry where far too many careers are cut short through injury. The aim of these courses is not simply to teach massage techniques but to nurture a quality of touch, attention and relationship that is all too often missing in physical therapists.
The School of Therapeutic Bodywork offers workshops and professional training courses to:
Complete beginners who wish to learn massage simply for the pleasure of practicing on friends and family or who wish to explore massage as a profession.
Massage professionals who wish to expand their repertoire of massage skills and techniques.
Practitioners working in areas such as dance, yoga, pilates, fitness or care who wish to enhance their understanding of the relaxation process and deepen their understanding of holistic practice.
Independent Professional Therapists International (IPTI) accredits the professional training courses offered by The School of Therapeutic Bodywork. Among other benefits IPTI offers an insurance scheme for its members.
For independent therapists or members of other accrediting bodies insurance can be arranged through Balen’s insurance company who also recognise the professional training courses.
Other insurance companies and accrediting bodies may recognise these courses. If necessary we are happy to liaise with such organisations in order to smooth the way.
Please note, that for beginners in the massage industry it will be necessary to gain a recognised qualification in Anatomy and Physiology in order to gain the insurance necessary to practice professionally on members of the public in the UK.
The workshops and professional training courses should meet the continuing professional development (CPD) requirements of accrediting bodies administering such a scheme. If in doubt, please check with them.
